Brenda Moore discussed the historical contributions of Black women in the U.S. military and the contemporary issues they face during a guest appearance on . “In the 1970s, for the first time in American history, the percentage of African American women on active duty in the Army increased more rapidly than that of White women. In 1943, African American women comprised 5.7% of all women in the Army, but by 1993, their percentages had soared to 43.9%,” said Moore.  “The major factors leading to this expansion were the end of the military draft and the subsequent decline in the participation rate of middle class White males.”
